This precaution is necessary as WCSA is repairing a water main break.<\/p>\n DO NOT DRINK TAP WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST<\/strong><\/p>\n Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, beverage and food preparation, and making ice until further notice<\/strong>. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water. Boiling is the preferred method to assure that the tap water is safe to drink. Bring all tap water to a rolling boil, let it boil for one (1) minute,<\/strong> and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Use caution boiling water; let water cool before attempting to move container to avoid spills, scalds and burns. Boil amounts of water that you can safely handle.<\/p>\n To address this problem, WCSA is repairing the water line, cleaning and testing to Virginia Department of Health requirements.<\/p>\n WCSA will inform you when this Precautionary Boil Water Advisory has been lifted.<\/p>\n Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). This testing is part of WCSA\u2019s ongoing efforts to maintain the reliability and efficiency of the sewer system, and to identify locations where stormwater or groundwater may be entering the sewer lines.<\/span> \u00a0During smoke testing, a non-toxic, odorless smoke is introduced into the sewer system through manholes. The smoke travels through sewer pipes and may exit through vent stacks on homes or other structures, allowing technicians to identify leaks, cracks or improper connections in the system.<\/span> \u00a0The smoke used is safe, non-staining, and non-invasive, and it poses no health risk to residents, pets or property.<\/i><\/b><\/span> \u00a0Residents may see smoke coming from roof vents, yard drains or manhole covers during testing.
