{"id":50357,"date":"2025-08-11T15:00:28","date_gmt":"2025-08-11T19:00:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wcsawater.com\/?p=50357"},"modified":"2025-10-03T13:53:40","modified_gmt":"2025-10-03T17:53:40","slug":"does-your-business-or-industry-need-a-backflow-prevention-device","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wcsawater.com\/index.php\/2025\/08\/11\/does-your-business-or-industry-need-a-backflow-prevention-device\/","title":{"rendered":"Does Your Business or Industry Need a Backflow Prevention Device?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Certain types of businesses and industries are required to have a backflow prevention assembly or backflow elimination method to protect the drinking water distribution system from contamination should a backflow incident occur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These businesses and industries include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Breweries<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Car washes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chemical and pharmaceutical plants<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dental and medical offices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Food and beverage processing facilities (including restaurants)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hospitals, mortuaries and veterinary establishments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Laboratories<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Laundromats<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Metal plating industries<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nursing homes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Schools and colleges<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Service stations and auto repair services<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, your company\u2019s facility is required to have a backflow prevention assembly or backflow elimination method if it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Uses an irrigation system&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Is four or more stories high<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Houses multiple commercial offices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Is a warehouse or high-density multi-use residential complex served by a master meter<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The type of protection required will depend on the degree of hazard that exists or may exist.
